I founded EcoTheos™ out of a long-held conviction: that care for creation is not an optional concern of faith, but a central theological and ethical calling.
Over the past twenty years, my work has taken me across cultures, disciplines, and institutions—through environmental governance, cultural heritage, conflict resolution, and theological inquiry. I have lived and worked in diverse contexts across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and the Caribbean, including formative years with UNESCO in Paris. Across these settings, one question has remained constant: How do we live faithfully, responsibly, and hope-fully within the world we have been entrusted to care for?
EcoTheos™ exists at the intersection of theology and lived reality. It is shaped by scripture, Christian tradition, and moral theology, while remaining attentive to contemporary ecological challenges and the lived experiences of communities navigating them. I believe deeply that theology must be more than abstract reflection—it must be embodied, relational, and capable of guiding action.
In my work with churches, educators, and community organizations, I often encounter a shared tension: a sincere desire to respond faithfully to environmental concerns, paired with uncertainty about where to begin, how to speak about these issues theologically, or how to act without fear or polarization. EcoTheos™ was created to help bridge that gap.
My approach emphasizes formation over fear, responsibility over ideology, and hope over despair. Drawing on biblical foundations such as Genesis 2:15 and Psalm 24, as well as integral ecology and ethical traditions, I work alongside communities to develop creation care programs, educational resources, and theological frameworks that are both faithful and practical.
At its heart, EcoTheos™ is about accompaniment. I do not believe that communities need more pressure or guilt; they need space for discernment, clarity of purpose, and tools that honor both faith and complexity. Whether through education, program development, or consultation, my role is to support that discernment with care, rigor, and humility.
Thank you for being here—and for seeking a faith-rooted response to the care of our common home.
With gratitude and hope,
Heidi Karlsson, M.A.
